So, we did it! We’re back in Kathmandu having summited Everest at about 6am local time (1am GMT) on Saturday 19th May 2012. I’m feeling a whole mix of emotions
although what we have achieved will take a whole lot longer to really sink in.
I'm in the process of writing a full update of the summit push so for now here's some photos all from the summit push (but not the one that you most want to see! I'll put that up with the blog). Fingers crossed they all worked!
I should also mention a few very important "thank you"'s; to Rob Casserley with whom I would not have even been able to start this expedition. Lhapka Sherpa who I mentioned above; the sherpas really are the true climbers on this mountain, none of us would have made it without them. To the rest of the team who have worked together so harmoniously and who have made this experience such an enjoyable one. And to all those at home who have shown their support, it really does mean the world to me; in particular to my closet friends and family, and especially my parents- you mean more to me than anything in the world and I can only hope you will forgive me for putting you through all the worry!! I promise to focus on my degree for a bit now!!
So for now we're just chilling in Kathmandu, sleeping lots, eating like elephants, enjoying beers by the pool, oh and paying a visit to the clinic every day to get the dressings on our minor frostbite changed! I have just one more day here before flying home on Sunday, landing at Heathrow T4 at 6.30pm and then heading back to uni first thing Monday morning (no idea how I'm going to stay awake in lectures!!). Full update to follow in a few days.
