Day 11
Total miles covered today: 75
Total miles covered: 854
You can't spell penultimate without ULTIMATE.
The sun had barely set when a lucky few awoke to the sounds of Ronan Keating singing 'When You Say Nothing At All' (to clarify he wasn't present in corporeal form, purely in audio delectation). Others were woken by more average and less emotionally rousing ditties. It was 4.45am and our penultimate day.
Our newly purchased torch beams were Moses, and the French darkness was the Red Sea. Eventually we were delivered safely into the dawn light with all our bearings in tact.
Following our mobile roadside patisserie check in chow down, Tom continued to have bulging issues. This has been established to be nothing to do with his technique but more an issue of...equipment. Tom then went onto get a puncture which was due to technique, namely hitting a particularly nasty pothole.
We achieved a sweaty Frejus debut and rode our bikes valiantly into the awaiting surf, all the time wondering if they would make decent pedalo conversions. In reality we waited patiently until our swimming trunks duly arrived.
We subsequently frolicked in the Mediterranean brine passing the time by viciously (accidentally) annihilating locals and tourists alike with the righteous disc of frisbee.
We await our final day with excitement and intrigue. The riding will be fast and hard, the finish shall be the sweet nectar of victory. The casino shall be our Mount Olympus, the road to it lined with golden chariots gilded with precious stones. I shall meet Prince Albert on the steps on the casino, and we shall whisper tenderly in his scarlet ear 'We own the town tonight'. The setting of the sun will be dedicated to our success and all the peoples of the town shall throw flowers in our wake. For we shall be victorious, as one team, as L2M.
Keep fresh,
L2M
