Barbara Hillary Expedition To The South Pole

Dear Friends,
I got a voicemail from Barbara yesterday saying that she's still stuck where
she is, due to poor visibility. The pilots must make a visual landing at the
South Pole strip, so they are waiting for clear skies before they make their
approach. Barbara also updated me on conditions at Union Glacier- they are
sleeping in tents at -30º! They are living and sleeping in their polar gear-
her washcloth is frozen stiff in the morning. She has a little scratchiness
to her voice but she is certainly healthy and strong enough to finish her
journey.
