We concluded our adventure yesterday with a midday arrival at Caroline's
parents house in Raleigh, NC. It has been an amazing 8 weeks! Thank you
all for your hospitality, messages, emails and calls. Hopefully, we
provided you with a few laughs, a break from work and trip ideas for the
future. To help wrap it all up, we compiled some stats on our trip that
highlight just how amazing it has been:
Number of nights on the road: 58

# of nights in hotel: 15

Favorite hike: Angel's Landing (Chris), Taos (Caroline)
Favorite restaurant: Geronimo in Santa Fe
Biggest surprise: OR coast
Best sunset: Sand Point, OR in Olympic NP

Biggest disagreement(s): how long food would last in the cooler; how long

flatulence
Worst campsite: Zion (ants!), Gallatin NP campsite (proximity to grizzly
attack)
Favorite Roadfood Stop: Edgar's soda shop in Elk Point, SD
Best dive restaurant: Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis, TN
Best BBQ: Rendezvous (ribs), OK Joe's (pulled pork)
Days that rain affected plans: 2 in CO
$s won in Vegas: $1,100!!!
Favorite wildlife: Elephant seals
Wish we had… More time for backpacking, a waterproof
tent, binoculars, gone ziplining
Funniest moment: Pulling Henry out of the Salmon River, ID
New wine love: Pinots from Anderson Valley, CA
Where we would live, if we could: Telluride, CO
Best people watching: Venice Beach, CA
Place(s) we are sorry to have missed: Crater Lake NP, San Diego, Mexico,
top of a 14er in CO, New Orleans, TX visiting friends, Memphis with the Cox
family!!!!

Number of posts by Care vs. Chris: 4-25
Future trip ideas: Biking big sur, hiking across Olympic NP, windsurfing
