We are on the road!! Yesterday we drove from Pittsboro, NC to Knoxville,
TN.

The odometer officially read 118,462 at the start of our journey. Our
estimate is that we will put close to 10,000 miles on the car this summer.
Hopefully our trusty rig will hold up.

Over the next 8 weeks, we hope to hike through some of the US's most amazing
landscapes, eat the best bbq and local food out there, drive some ad-worthy
highways, and stay open to new things around every corner.

Our drive yesterday took us across the Appalachian Mountains and Cherokee
National Forest on some winding roads (US-421 and 321). Unfortunately, no
time to check out the Blue Ridge Parkway, but maybe on the way back! We
stayed at Kelly's last night. It was great to have a home-cooked meal and
spend some time with her. Next stop is Nashville for some country music and
soul food.
